What'd I do wrong?

Alrighty, so I finally gave in and dumped my USB Speedstream 4060 DSL modem and bought the ethernet 5260 version off eBay. Next I bought the SMC Barricade(4ABR). Now I have it hooked up: DSL Modem->Router->PC, and I can get the http://192.168.2.1 page to load up.

My connection is PPPoE, so I set the router up for that with my username/pw and then the book says to disconnect the DSL modem and power it back on, and it should be connected. Problem is, the router stills shows my status as being disconnected. Even after trying it and rebooting I still had no luck. Anyone know what the problem might be? I'm running WinXP, and am pretty much a networking newbie so any help is appreciated.

You may need to tell your ISP you changed modems. You service might be locked to the MAC address on your old modem.

The thing is, I can connect up fine with just the new modem. The problems came up when I added the router. I rechecked my cables and everything's setup right, I'm gonna browse SMC's site and see if I can come up with anything...

Set the WAN port of the router to what would be the "Default Gateway" setting of your PC if the PC was attached directly to the modem. If all the addresses are coming up as "192.168.1.XX," then you'll need a different address range on the LAN side of the router (like 192.168.2.XX).

The router has to have two different subnets, one on the "outside" (the WAN port) and one on the "Inside" (the LAN port(s)).

Good Luck

I'm not really sure I know how to do that...I took a couple of pics of the setup to see if maybe those give you an idea of what i'm doing wrong....

1 This pic being the LAN setup.
2 This being the PPPoE Setup screen.
3 This being after the PPPoE Setup Screen.
4 This is what I get when I click the Connect button in picture 3.

I apologize if these pics don't help, but I'm pretty much clueless as to what to do here :(. I appreciate you taking the time to try and help though. Hopefully I can figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong.

Also, in my Network Connections screen, I have one listed as: "Efficient Networks RFC 1483 Virtual Miniport" which is always disconnected and labeled my Local Area Connection. I also have the one from my NIC that is: "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" which is connected and is what I have the DSL connected into. I don't know where in the hell the first one comes from, but it won't let me delete it. Possibly from when I was using the Efficient software?
