That meshes well with criminological theory. Most scholars look at robbery (especially if it's planned, as this one clearly was) as a transaction between the robbers and the victim. They're there for one thing - to get the money - and they'd much rather leave with money and no shots fired, rather than shooting someone. Robbers usually are NOT violent criminals...they're only after money.

And, armed robberies are MUCH LESS likely to result in injury than strong-arm (unarmed) robberies. This is presumably b/c the victim thinks they can fight back against an unarmed robber, and the robber basically tears them a new one.
Agreed. That's the same content that was covered in one of my CJ classes in college. Don't be an idiot, and chances are they will just grab the money and go. That's what they came for. If they came to shoot people, they would have done that first.

thankfully my little pyonireee is OK:heart:

those douches!!!!!!:| no one fvcks around with lunch!!!!

I would be VERY afraid. People that are stupid enough to rob a fast food place AND have guns are a MAJOR HAZARD TO YOUR HEALTH!!!!!!!!!! :Q
I mean... a fast food place for gavds sake. Damn...

Glad you're ok!

Were you sh!tting your pants or did you feel like nothing bad will happen to you anyway and you just needed to wait it out ? I've thought about how I would react ... and well... I'm not bulletproof so there ya go.

I was just telling someone here in the office about this. It's weird. I saw what was happening, made eye contact with one of the guys robbing the place, and just looked down and waited. They didn't scream or yell or anything and were pretty quiet about it. I felt pretty calm actually....like it was just a transaction that was taking place, and they would leave as soon as it was over.

now if they had been screaming at everyone and waving the guns around...i don't know. But, for me, i didn't get a feeling of urgency or fright...just "stay calm and they'll be out of here".

Of course had someone behind them been armed (AZ is shall issue) the outcome would have been totally different. And the surveillance video would be much more entertaining. 🙂

Too bad it didn't work out today.

If I can remember Arizona's law correctly, I believe you can carry unconcealed without a permit.

If I'm wrong on that, Arizona still has pretty lax gun laws. 🙂

I'm not sure that anyone would have tried to kill them if they had a ccw. Considering that there were 2 gunmen, the rist to bystanders would have been very high. Plus, the way the place is layed out (i'm assuming) would required you to get over to the side and shoot from there to minimize the risk of the bullets traveling through the gunmen and into the cashier.

The one on 35th and Bethany is probably the safest in the city! Go there! 😛

who robs a fast food place?

Apparently two guys that needed a minimal amount of cash. 😉

FYI, those places carry thousands of dollars in cash. Even at 11AM they would have had a bit, especially if they hadn't made their drop from the night before (happens a lot more than you think).

You just have to get the safe open, not the registers. 😀

LMAO....11am works for me! 😛

Yeah, they didn't go for the safe, only what was in the one register.

back in high school during the summer i worked 3rd shift at a grocery store and one night a guy came in the store with a hankerchief over his mouth, showed the manager a gun in his pants, then gathered me and another employee and put us in the dairy cooler. we were there for an hour then busted out (robber put a pallet of dog food in front of the door). this was life in the small city (lynchburg, VA)
