whata re the good RTS games coming out this year?

I'm guessing Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion will be the class of the field.

Though I didn't know Company of Heroes had a sequel coming out. That would probably be the top 2, then. ....assuming no one drops the ball.

As zin mentioned theres sins rebellion, theres also the expansion pack for civ V gods and kings and uhhh... i cant think of anything else actually.

We need more quality RTS games!

Syndicate was the first RTS I had ever played, and a sequel was just released. Unfortunately they made it a FPS and not a squad based RTS like the original and follow up games.

Since Activision took over for Blizzard, I would expect the next episode of SC2 to be released in the next year.

I'm looking forward to Sins and CoH2 too. I'm also into building type RTS and Anno 2070 has an expansion later this year as well.

i still play forged alliance a lot. i would kill for a proper sequel to that (NOT SC2)

or a sequel to TA using an upgraded supcom engine.

afaik GPG has halted development of Kings & Castles, which also sucks.

also universe, please make me a homeworld 3. kthx.

Made by Relic, as in CoH2 Relic who had some nasty staff cuts recently iirc. I'd focus energy on hoping for a good CoH2 instead of wishing for HW3. Would be nice though...

Ditto. Something on the 8 threaded frostbite 2 engine would be amazing...

Yeah relics parent THQ worries me, all they have are the games relic makes and saints row as well:

Everything else is bleh...

I doubt relic would close down because THQ did. If anything, THQ would sell relic off or just merely downsize, or get bought.

I doubt THQ or its new owners would be dumb enough to shut Relic down, but then again, these execs do some stupid things.

I was more worried about the dumb it down and appeal to a wider audience so stupid shits can play it thing that publishers often do and in the end nobody likes what they put out ala supreme commander 2.

Ya, since Relic is one of THQ's only studios that makes good games they could go down the "oh how can we increase Relic's sales? derp!" path.

I think for the most part all that PC gamers can look forward to are console ports and indie titles. I think we won't see too many more triple A RTS games because they don't do well on consoles.

Blizzard will probably stop making RTS games the first time one of them has mediocre sales.

I don't know if any of you guys have this thing called an iPad or iPhone, but there are actually a lot of really cool F2P games that I actually wouldn't mind dropping cash for in-app items in.

Z2Live's Battle Nations is one good example--takes the farmville model in a completely different and completely cool direction.

Kabam's Camelot: Battle for the North is very different and pretty cool to--it's almost like a persistent world--I say almost because you operate on three different maps (handled very well, esp if you are playing on iPad) and a ton of people are in the same world (server).

But yea, everyone right now is trying to figure out how they can carve up a piece of the console/mobile f2p pie.

Well, its not coming out this year, but I think C&C Generals 2 is scheduled for release in 2013. And supposedly its running on the FrostBite 2 engine. So it could use up to 8 threads, right? I'd love a RTS that didn't run like crap with thousands of units just because it only uses two cores.

These aren't RTS games though. If you want a kickass RTS game for the iPad try Amoebattle or Eufloria. Both are very original and work extremely well on the touch screen

i'd seen a video on youtube regarding a new Rise of Nations. Apart from that, the expansion to Starcraft2 might also release.

Is this just one of those fan-made mashups? Those annoy me because they fill me with false hope 🙁

if these are rumors of a nameless kind, I want links 😱

Yes indeed, ive been waiting for a modern multi threaded RTS for ages, starcraft 2 and supcom suck when it comes to this.

I fully anticipate EA making a total balls up of it though.

Whoops. I think i may have jumped the gun before confirming. I could've sworn that i had seen a video somewhere about a month ago or something. #kicks myself#

No one's mentioned Warlock: Master of the Arcane yet. It came out 2 weeks ago and is only $20. It's quite good - feels like Civ 5 but with simpler economy and more in-depth combat. Graphics are good too, and the AI isn't nearly as terrible as Civ 5.
