What you should know before going to America.

LOL, even in their advise about our country, they're still polite. If you put two Japanese men in a room together, they'll keep apologizing to each others.

McDonalds: Has no teriyaki burger in America. Portions are bigger and food is cheaper. Sometimes the person taking the order does not speak English. Please relax! They probably understand the set menu, although it is called [English] "combo", and you can hold up the number with your hands as shown. [Snip of chart for how Americans count on their fingers, which is actually different than how Japanese people count on their fingers, hence the need for a chart.]

I loved that one, I could just picture some Japanese who doesnt speak English trying to give his order, in English, to another guy who doesnt speak English

* Ladies: if you shop for clothes, ask for where to find [English] "petite". It means normal sized. Ladies who are petite may have difficulty finding clothes which fit in America, except at specialty shops.

The list is full of win.

Sounds pretty accurate. I found the stuff about getting robbed in big cities kinda funny, cuz its true.

i doubt crime is all that much worse in US big cities as compared to japan big cities.

even so, it's not *that* often people get mugged. just be aware of where to stay out of at night.

I lived most of my life outside the US, and most of this is accurate. As for big cities in the US being as safe as cities in Japan, you couldn't be more wrong. It's alot different, I never feel as safe here at home as I did overseas in all parts of the world.

funny... i never feel unsafe, regardless of where i am.

how "safe" someone feels is not a reliable indicator of how safe a city is.
