What you guys think of Isuzu Rodeo?

Depends. They are pretty reliable if well maintained but all kinds of stupid little sh!t breaks on them. Things like cruise control stops working, creaks and rattles, power door locks stop working etc. The stock shocks suck major d!ck so will probably need to replace them if it hasn't been done already. Timing belt should be replaced around every 60k IIRC. If the oil hasn't been changed regularly or the wrong type used the engine will gum up and the engine will tick, it's worse when cold. Oh, oil leaks are common...at least it was on mine. Valve cover gaskets leak, rear main seal leaks.

YMMV.

I have a 1994 Honda Passport (which is a Rodeo). It has trouble starting up (at least the 94 model does) that I have heard can be fixed by replacing the fuel injection. It creaks and rattles like Jules said, but this could be because it has been in at least 2 wrecks (one of which had a tree go through the back window(i have pics if youd like 🙂)) Other than that, for a car that has 140,000 miles on it, it runs decent.

I have a 95 Rodeo (see sig)... it's a 1st gen which is different than what's available these days. it's been solid for me thru Buffalo winters half its life. The 4WD was rated as one of the best back then (I don't keep up with that stuff now). The only major thing that went was the starter. The little things include power lock actuators going and they say my AC compressor has a leak (I fill it with walmart freon, no big deal), and my tailgate window wouldn't close ($2 spring broke). Everything else is fine... not bad for being 10 years old. And yes, it's an Isuzu... some models had a 10-year warranty (they dropped it a bit now)... better than getting a Hyundai... the workmanship is better too.

I bought it when I was 17, for its looks... who woulda thunk it'd be so reliable too ?

2001 Rodeo owner. A/C motor went out on it but was covered under warranty. Other than that, its as dependable as a honda (honda built)

I like mine. I plan on driving it into the ground. 🙂

and they should still be made in the Lafayette, Indiana plant. I don't think Subaru is in there... I know GM owns part of Isuzu so that doesn't add up either.

They are the same car. Isuzu builds the Rodeo and the Passport for Honda. As far as I know Subaru has nothing to do with either vehicle though.

They made or may even still make the Honda Passport but I remember opening the hood and seeing made in Japan by the Isusu Motor Corperation plate.
So may not be to bad if Honda rebages them and sells them as thier own.
