Ewww a Sis board with that kinda budget? Ditch that and get the Epox 4G4A RAID.......very sweet, only $116 @ mwave.com. And how about an ALpha or Swiftec instead of the Volcano 7.........

If you are spending that much money get the Asus P4B533-V motherboard. (actualy not sure about the name, make sure it is i845E or G chipset and not the micro ATX one)

Nothing wrong with an Sis P4S533 board with a 2.53....................they are still one of the fastest, most stable boards especially when not O/C'ed and the 2.53's aren't going that much further the way it is and we don't even know if he plans to O/C. I do agree, I would opt for an Alpha or Swiftec over the Volcano. Other than that, looks like a decent setup and will last you as long as YOU are happy with it! Good Luck!

Also what is the brand name of the power supply and case?
Why do you need the ATA-raid card if you have only one hard drive?
Get Toshiba dvd rom instead of Sony.

Better in what way??? Stability and non-overclocked speed wise the P4S533 is always on or near the top................check the reviews...........

The "difference" is in the chipset................the P4S533 is based upon the SiS 645DX chipset and the P4B533 is based upon the Intel 845E chipset. Now, aside from that, if you have the bucks to spend, and want a very fast, stable board and do not need to worry about overclocking it very far, then definatel go for the P4TE..............It is based on the Intel I850 chipset and you will need to move to RDRAM which is very good for multitasking and graphics work especially, plus, it is still the fastest P4 chipset available at this time albiet not by much anymore. You would want to buy PC1066 RDRAM instead of the DDRRAM which actually, due to recent price raises, is very similar in price to premium DDR PC2700 or PC3200..............

Well, actually your biggest price difference would be the cost of the board...............the ram prices, if you went with premium stuff in the DDR400 "rated" stuff which would perform closest to RDRAM would be about the same or a bit less. The DDR solutions are damned fine to though and I'm sure you would be happy with either........... If you can wait a while yet, there are some very nice new boards coming out shortly, the P4T533 which will support single RDRAM rimms in the PC4200 variety will be very nice boards, and also the SiS 648 boards look to be the next fastest thing to the RDRAM boards, at least for a while and they are going to be feature rich!

Looks great to me man, but
as a former game theater pro xp and audigy owner.... I must tell you that you will be missing out big time if you dont get a Santa Cruz sound card. As you can see in my rig i spare no expense (cept monitor and i didnt get rdram [rambus=devil]). I would spend twice what i did to get the SC. Other than that i think you will be pleased.

I alomst always will agree with that, but, in this instance, if one can wait.......................several of these new boards will include serial ATA options as well as firewire, USB 2.0, and many other "upgrades" which really make these new boards something to look for! On the down side though, it's rarely ever a good idea to buy first runs of new boards which include a lot of new features so.............. You have to be the judge...............the new boards look great and will offer a lot of new features and speed, but, they are brand new and may take a while to be completely bug free....

You might want to wait for via or intel's dual channel ddr solutions. they should really make the p4 shine compared to rdram. I'm also curious where you're getting the pentium 6 processor from. Whats the performance like on it. 64 bit? ....
