don't forget though, that the SLI mobo will cost upwards of 150 bucks. so think twice before you go that option

I don't think the current production of that card has any connector to bridge two cards together. And you can't just add that at home. ATI would have to have a board with two slots on and rely on no bridge thing.

Unless that connector I saw on the Nvidias is simply for keeping them from hitting each other??? heh

Yeah, I'd be a littel nervous buying a $700 card that may or may not do what I want it to (SLI)

that danish professional overclocker got a x800xt do slightly more 3dmark than two sli ultras. however the ultras were stock clock and only god knows what that freak would/will do with an sli setup.

i guy on the forums said that there would be a connector but i dont think i need sli to tell your the truth i will be playing source and hl2 some doom3 he said buy one now and than in like a year buy another one and sli them i am still thinking about it

while im going to get an sli board i dont buy that upgradebility thing at all. im pretty sure if i bought a 6800 ultra now in one year id get a nice new single card that outperforms 2 6800 alone. sure ill pay alil more than for a second 6800 but its also gonna be easier to sell one one-year-old 6800 ultra than two two-year-old ultras in 2006. i think sli is a nice option if i want more than what the best card offers today rather than for upgradability.

Be careful. ATI may not mean "SLI" when they say dual-GPU. They might mean dual-core GPU on one card (like AMD's dual-core Opterons coming out soon). I would spend a bit less on the video card (Asus makes cards expensive as shit), and upgrade a bit more often. I just ordered an X800XT last night for 481 (Visiontek brand). Maybe in two years I'll upgrade to SLI or dual-core GPU, but for now any X800XT should be more than enough. I like Asus, but I can't give them that kind of money.
