Typically I look for a large desktop that doesn't have a lot of junk under it. And I began thinking what would other people really want in a desk. We'll here's your chance to speak up. If you could have/create any desk you wanted what features would it have?

large flat surface (5ft x 2.5ft should do it)

legs that aren't at the corners (T legs or something)

keyboard /mouse tray

shelf /closet for desktop

built in cable routing/holes etc.

thats about all i can think of that i'd need. I like my filing cabinet separate from my desk.

I would like a large oak desk. The legs would be made of human skeletons (kneeling like Atlas), and the desk would be sheathed with preserved human skin. At the four corners of the desktop there would be the stretched out and flattened faces of the four people who sacrificed their lives to be come the legs of my desk.

A place for my PC underneath, a nice spot for my monitor, a pull-out drawer with mouse/keyboard, and of course a swing-out tray of blow.

integrated light and surge strip would be nice, wheels, cable management, designated speaker stands, space to put multiple monitors, lots of glass, wheels. a small, accessible area to hide a tiny shuttle-style PC.

Nothing, my desk is perfect as it is. Looks like a [ shape rotated 90 degrees. It's a big wide flat surface with no drawers or anything.

Something with a big work surface, pullout keyboard tray, and built-in cable holes.

Large flat surface, wire management, drawers along one side. Simple is better.

Ikea jerker basically as everything I want. I only wish it had cable management stuff in the back (perhaps a built in power strip)

4'x2.5', vesa mount post centered, mounts for studio monitors, mounts below the table top for external drives, routers, etc. (similar to ziptie+pegboard idea)

1) Large work surface with no obstructions: No hutch, no little integrated file areas, etc.
2) Unobstructed leg room. Nothing is worse than those old wooden desks where your legs are confined to a tiny little area. I like to sprawl out.
3) Sturdy construction, doesn't wobble, etc.

That's it for me. I basically just want a nice table. If I need a file cabinet, I'll add one. If I have other storage needs, I'll add them. I hate desks that try to integrate everything all into one, and I especially hate desks that have keyboard trays.

It's gotta be a L or a U shaped desk to maximize usable desk space. 30" depth or more, 36" preferable. I like to have filing cabinets on the ends underneath. I don't really need much more.

EDIT: I'd like some integrated clamps so that I can fix a power strip or two in place. The clamps would allow for strips of various sizes.
