What would you upgrade next?

I'll probably have a few extra bucks in late January early Feb for an upgrade or two. What would you guys recommend? Something that isn't shown in the System Rig is speakers, I have a crappy set of desktop speakers now. I'm thinking of getting a new sound card, a set of Altec Lansing 4100s, and the new Microsoft Wireless mouse. I'd also like a new burner (have a 4x in one of my networked PCs now), a slot loading DVD (not really needed, more of a future proof upgrade) and a 19 inch monitor someday. The 15 inch isn't cutting it. What would you guys upgrade first in my system?

Monitor definately.

Check out the Flat CRTs available, like the Sony Multiscan E400

(cue sony vs. samsung debate *sigh*)

Edit: If you had any spare $$$ lying around after the monitor upgrade then I would go out and get some of the smaller ($$ wise) peripherals you were after.

True, I would really like to have a big monitor. So now I'm looking at...

Monitor and the speakers with leftover cash (probably the 2.1s and keep my current soundcard)
Burner
Mouse
DVD (slot of course😉)

Any other opinions?

I think you have got it right.

Without a doubt get a better monitor. Personally I'm looking at a Planar 18.1 TFT LCD to go with my PNY GF3 Ti 200.

Next I would get better speakers.

A burner is cool, but not a must. If you just want to have more space for data, buy more HDD's. If you want to copy disks get a burner.

A cordless mouse is a waste if you like to play games.

Unless you don't have a TV a DVD drive for the PC is just silly. There is really not a god damn thing out there that a 12X PC DVD driver is good for. Remember movies only require 1X.

The DVD drive is for development work. I get MSDN DVDs all the time but I can't ever use em. I wouldn't be watching any movies on it. That's why I have a home entertainment center😉

Since I recently upgraded my Video card and Memoey, I think I will upgrade my cables. Its a mess inside my case.

Thinking of getting some rounded cables.
