What would you think?

I've ordered over the net for years and never been burned, but I'm a little worried now. I ordered a case, mb, 128M ram, cpu and sound card($28.00). It gets here and I open it up. In the enlight case is the motherboard, and instruction manual. Missing is the sound card, ram, cpu, and driver CD fro the motherboard. I call the dealer, and he says the orders are checked twice before leaving, and says I should file a claim with UPS.

Now am I wrong, but would someone open a box, take out the case, open the case (2 screws), take out everything except the $140.00 motherboard, close the case and repackage the box? Does this seem plausible?

I'm afraid I may be getting ripped off. What do you think?

Seems doubtful they'd be able to open the box & re-seal it without making it obvious. How many layers of tape are on the opened end?

I think you're getting screwed. Not very plausible UPS would do this. They have much better things to do.

Both the top and bottom seem to have two layers of tape, but the box is the one the case came in, so it would have to have been opened by the dealer to stick the components in the case.

I don't want to trash the dealer yet, because maybe he'll do the honorable thing. Maybe it's an honest mistake. If he turns out to be a crook, his name will be EVERYWHERE.

UPS should have checked the weight when it first got the package. Repackage what you got, check the weight, and see if it matches.

Did you pay for this with a credit card???

if you did, then that's who you're gonna want to call. I'm guessing you won't get anything from UPS.

Great idea Pretender. The UPS weight was 25 pounds. I put everything back in the box and guess what: 25 pounds.

Hmm, now that I think about it, compared to the weight of a case and mobo, the ram, cpu, and sound card might be negligable, probably under 1 pound. If possible, check the weight in ounces rather than pounds (if it was weighed in using ounces)
