What would you think about...

Hi there,
last night, before I fell a sleep, I had an idea. Wouldn't it be nice, if the graphic card would be little bit like a computer. Like, you buy the AGP Card, and then, you could put the graphic chip on the board you like, and as much RAM as you want. And if you wanted to buy a new video card, you could just buy a newer chip, and keep everything else. I didn't think too long about it, just a few thoughts...

What do you think?

Umm - difficult, and I doubt it would be possible to implement.

For a start, you'd have to be changing your "chipset" all the time to take care of the following:
* Die shrinks
* Faster memory
* various other bits & bobs.

You can't just get a "generic" GFX-card with 2/4/8 rendering pipes and all that. It's a nice thought, but I seriously doubt it would work. Shame that 🙁
