What would you say is a healthy weight for a male who is 6' in height?

I'm exactly 6' and I've been working out, but I'm curious what would be considered a healthy weight. According to this site ( http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm ) I should weigh between 140-184, which I find insane. I can't imagine being 6' and weighing anything under 160-170 as being healthy. But then again, I'm not a medical professional either. I was thinking for myself that somewhere between 190-200 might be a good weight. Just curious what other people think.

I'm 5'11 and have some abdominal definition at 200 lbs. It all depends on how much muscle you have.

But even if you have very little muscle, I doubt that anything less than 200 would be problematic at 6', as far as weight/body fat are concerned.

I'm 6'1" and I feel overweight at anything over 174 pounds. Between 160-170 is good for me, with 160-165 being ideal.

I'm 6'1" and even in late middle school/early High School I was always around 210-220lbs.

I have never been told I'm overweight.

I'm currently 245lbs and although by the numbers some would say "I'm overweight".......I'm really not. Sure I have a little belly and perhaps should loss 20-30 lbs or so.

PS. I was at 231lbs about 3 months back and "look wise" it made almost no difference.

Heck most people around me didn't even notice.

The entire "weight based on height" chart thingy is stupid/bs.

LMAO

You must be a twig. I would look like a crackhead/heroin addict if I was to weight 175lbs.......no way

I am 5'10 weighed 275, I'm now down to 180. I've gone back up to 195 while lifting to gain muscle mass, but now I'm back to cardio and back to eating a lot cleaner sitting at 185. I'd like to lose the last bit of fat in my mid section, and then start lifting again. I'm pretty sure I could lean down to 170 if I really kept at it.

Either way I could see being between 170-210 or so and being "healthy" Anything above 200 though I'd want to be pretty muscular.

Wow, if I weighed even 180 my family would be rushing me to emergency. But then again I've always been muscular. I weigh about 240 now, and I working to get back to 200. At 200 I look very slender, anything under I look anorexic.

Uh, yeah, no way. They may not be fat, bu no way are they skinny.

Clothes are bigger down South. Whenever I order clothes online from the states I have to order at least one size smaller than what I buy up here.

you guys are focusing on the wrong number...it's body fat % you should focus on.

6' / 200 lbs @ 10% BF >>>> 6' / 175 lbs @ 20%

I am 6'3" 220. I look best at around 205. I got down to 178 at one point, but people thought I looked sick. I was 6'3" at 15, and haven't grown since. My weight has fluctuated a bit though, cause real life can get a hold of your gym schedule sometimes.

From where? Hollister?

Seriously... most mediums are swimming on me and yes smalls are usually tight. It all comes down to brand.

For example any size shirt from sayyy Nautica (not that anybody under 50 wheres that) would look even more hilarious on you than it does on me. Could fit a whole extra person in there.

google Body Mass Index. Works for most except heavily muscular people.

As for being 6'0" and 200 lbs.. that is overweight unless you have a lot of muscle. I'm not a twig, 6'4" and 195 I could stand to lose a few pounds.

In my high school days I was 6-2 and was 135-140 on a good day. Doctors were concerned. Now i'm 6-2 265-270 and i'm definitely over-healthy. ;)

Depends on muscle mass.

I'm 6' 1" and when I was doing road biking heavily, I was only 160 pounds. But I've been as high as 220 and didn't have a huge gut. Right now I'm 190 in lazy mode.

140 seems pretty low, but my brother-in-law is a stick and can't gain weight to save his life, so it really just depends on your body type & how much muscle/fat you're packing.

6'?

Between 140 and 200. There is stupid-big variation depending on the size of your frame and how much muscle is there.

It's funny how that works. There are girls I know who workout (strength training etc.) who are 170 pounds and definitely don't look anywhere close because it's all pure muscle.

Yeah its a high school brand, all that stuff is smaller. Its really hard to find polos that fit well, and aren't stupid expensive. I usually go for Lacoste size 3 or Banana smalls if I can find either brand on sale.

I think 3 is the smallest Lacoste size I've seen at stores. So I don't know where people that weigh 50 lbs less than me get clothes.

i'm 5'11 and have gone from 210 3 months ago to around 202 or so, and quite a few of my friends that i see every month or so have been telling me i look "skinny" but it's just because they are used to seeing me all puffy and big. i'm trying to lean up though and have lost a lot of body fat and have a visible 6 pack once again. but when i see people who i see every year or so, like i did at a baby shower 2 weekends ago, people tell me i've gotten huge.

i'd think that a 6' person at 150 would be incredibly skinny looking.
