What would you rather get: A 21" Sony CRT Monitor, or a 15-17" Viewsonic LCD?

What would you get, and why?

I think I would rather have the 21" Sony.

My gf's aunt just picked up a Viewsonic LCD and I must say, that thing is very sweet. But as for gaming and other things, I've heard that it isn't really good.

I would definitely go with LCD. You'll save your eyes, and trust me, that's more important than couple of extra inches on the screen.

I had choice of g520 or nec lcd 1830.. the lcd is about 100 more than the sony but because of back breaking weight of the monitor.. i took a lcd.

I'd definitly want the LCD, espicaly when you consider the fact that with you get a 17" LCD, you actualy get around 17" of viewable area.

21" Sony CRT would cost around same as a good 17" LCD.... and I'd take the LCD.

I'd go with the 21 incher, LCDs are fine for websurfing, but suck at games.....

LCDs are nice, but your choice of resolutions is limited, and many do not play games well because of ghosting.

With my games, I use a lot of different resolutions ranging from 1024x768 to 1600x1200. This just isn't possible on any reasonably priced LCD, and even on the ones it is possible on, the aliasing on any resolution but the native is horrible.

So I can look at it from different angle's. And not have to see lines on the screen. And it will also be bigger than my tV.

Definatly the 21inch, as It would be able to handle Much Higher resolutions.

If i had the 21inch, I'd probably run it at 1792x1344 or 1856x1392 (I dont think my eyes would like 2048x1536)
If i had the LCD i'd probably replace my 13inch monitor that resembles a micromave oven from the 1970s and use it on my primary linux box

Though I wauld rather purchase Dual 19inch CRTs as I would get more screen real estate with that

I like high res.
I like LCD's cause of the ease on the eyes, but I don't think they're ready yet. My next monitor is gonna be a 900NF.
I like 1280 x 960 and higher if I get a bigger monitor.
1024 x 768 is weak.

i bought a 19" sony over an LCD just the other day. I am dying to have one, but LCDs just aren't there yet. Maybe in a couple years...

Where do you guys find the space for these monitors? Point me to a desk that will hold them and still give you room to work and I might consider it... They are just too darn deep!

Get a corner desk and the depth doesn't matter. I have a 21" Sony and I have PLENTY of desk space.

I'd DEFINITELY get the 21" Sony. Until they get an LCD that can match the performance of my monitor, I have no reason to get an LCD.

I love My Sony E500 21"................worth every penny i paid for it 6 mos ago. My other monitor was killing my eyes after a few hours of gaming. The real flat screen must be easier on the eyes.....plus a clearer screen and text........was well worth the Bucks for me.

Get the CRT - you'll have a bigger screen size, higher resolutions and refresh rates and much better colours.
