what would you rather do this summer...?

my summer work options as of now:

-i have been offered 21-28 hours/week at my current workplace doing lifeguarding at an outdoor pool. right now, in hate guarding, but thats because i'm indoors with just myself. i would be outdoors with 2+ other guards, one of them probably my best friend... $7.50/hour

-i am interviewing on friday for work at a daycamp which i worked at last year. if hired, i will have 30 hours/week. i worked here last year, as said, and a lot of my good friends work there. the counselors usually get pretty tight, and we have a good time together. 7.00-8.00/hour

-i could, if i wanted to, find a job at a restaurant and get as many hours as i wanted at a plethora of different types of restaurants. since i know little about this option, the hours/payment estimates are rough. probably about 30 hours/week. 7.00-9.00/hour (keep in mind that i'd actually have to go find this job ASAP..

which would you choose? should i find a few restaurant options and then decide between all the different options?

Anyway, I'd go for option number 1 if there are a lot of bikini-clad girls at the pool you'd be at.

go for the pool, then you can work with a friend and look at hot girls in bikinis all summer... why not get two jobs 21-28 hours a week is not much. Its not that hard to work 60 hours a week, then your bank account swells.

Don't work in the back of a restaurant. It sucks.
If you can work as a prep cook (unlikely) go for that because it is a good "in" for the restaurant industry if you want to take that route.

Waiting is good too, because you'll have that experience under your belt and if you do a good job it can get you into other waiting jobs in the future.

i would take daycamp. looks best on resume for non-restaurant/lifeguarding jobs imo.

i could work more than one job. that'd be nice. but i want to have a life, too.

I've done both guarding and camp. Can you combine the two? That's what I did one summer. Best summer of my life. I made a buttload of money, too, working long days outside.

Frankly, instead of working my a$ off for a miserable payment I'd rather go someplace warm, where beer flows like wine, where there are hot women etc etc.

Ah no... I guess not this time maybe.

As for your main post, I think all the options are quite nice IMHO. I suggest you flip a coin and let the fate decide.

I've done the lifeguard thing a few summers myself. After the first day it gets old. Most of what you are going to see are a bunch of screaming, pissing in the pool, kids.

Summer Camp is fun. You usually have options to do different things and you'll meet friends/network for college.

I'll still be working at Panera Bread this summer unless I find something better or they fire me for wanting too many days off for car shows.
