What would you rather do? Buy your pc parts locally or Newegg and save $100.00

I'm building a pc for a friend of mine and am debating on buying the parts locally and spending 100 dollars more or waiting for a few days and ordering it from Newegg to save the 100 dollars.
I kind of want to just buy it locally because I want to build this now since my wife's due to have the new baby any minute but at the same time I would like to save my buddy the 100 dollars.

I'd go and save the $100. If your wife has the baby just have the friend stop by your house and put any parts that were deliered inside your house.

Saving $100 definitely sounds worthy of newegg. There are a number of things I buy online, but some I would prefer to buy local (to save on shipping). Just calcuate in tax/shipping for the items, if the savings was still over $30, I'd do it.

Newegg, threre's nothing worse than haivn got wait for a hodge-podge of parts to arrive on 20 different days. With newegg, you get them all at one time :)

In UTah you can go to Totally Awesome COmputers, and they will pricematch the online store (plus shipping) and beat the total by one dollar. THey have good customer service, and if they have the item in stock, you get it immediately, if not, you've got to wait for them to get it shipped...

Used once or twice to pricematch disreputable internet dealers who had ridiculously low prices on hard drives and the like...

Grew up in HAwaii...shipping always sucks there...

I'd buy the big stuff locally and the small stuff online. That way if you have to return/RMA anything, you don't get raped on shipping charges...

I'd do everything online, except the monitor. On the past two monitors I've bought, they've been online only cause I got a killer deal on them.

Newegg. Save your buddy $100. He might return the favor one day by offering to babysit while you and your wife go out on the town.

Around here, the only real alternative to mailorder is CompUSA or Best Buy and every time I go there, especially CompUSA, I can't help but overhear their highschool-age salesfolk giving misinformation to customers. So to preserve my sanity, I'd probably order from newegg even if the price difference were closer to $10.

I usually buy locally.. i hate waiting weeks for RMA's and things when you can drive 5 mins to the company where you bought the stuff.

if I can get things locally, I will pay more to.

(that's just me)

No, that's not just you. Especially when building for others, I prefer to purchase from local shops.
