The pain is caused by pressure from the infection. Kill it and the pain stops. May take a few days but it works.

Yeah, she said that the fact that the pain was pressure related was due to the tooth having a hole down to the bone, and it being infected. If I had gotten rid of the infection, the root/nerve would've still been exposed, thus requiring a root canal, then a crown and whatever else.

So yeah, still $2500 that was barely covered by insurance, as opposed to simply yanking it and costing me $23 and 20 minutes of my life.

I had the same optino and i jsut got the roto canal and crown. Maybe I'm crazy but i enjoy my teeth(never had to have a wisdom tooth removed somegow) and braces did cost an arse load of cash and pain so it would be a shame to undo it with a tooth pull.

far back molar? would've yanked it too.

Yep, one of those 12-year things I guess. She told me right out that it wasn't worth the money, just to yank it and I wouldn't even notice it after a while. Nice going to someone who doesn't try to bilk you out of every penny you have.

My family's dentist wanted to charge my grampa 15K for new teeth. He's 85, he doesn't NEED new teeth!

My guinea pig's abcess was treated with antibiotics, they never had to pull any teeth. That didn't stop them form pulling one anyway and charging me $300 but it wasn't necessary.

And what covered the giant hole in the tooth where the bacteria got in to infect it in the first place? I'm not a guinea pig, and since I already determined how much I'm willing to pay to save MY teeth, you don't wanna know how much I'd be willing to pay for a small rodent's teeth.

Yeah, I'd yank it from the back. I have no dental and I need some wisdom teeth out (one is through and not hygienic at all) but I'm waiting until I'm done with school and am back on dental insurance.
