It's fine to call 911 and let the pros handle it. You (as a someone who's not an emergency worker) shouldn't move an injured person from a car unless it's a life-over-limb scenario. I would have hoped you could have stuck around to make a statement to the cops though.

I used to think that I would react like the OP, but when I was behind a car that flipped and landed in a ditch. I pulled over while calling 911 and ran to the woman, the operator informed me not to move the patient.

9 times out of 10 the paramedics DO NOT want you to touch or move anyone in the car until they get there, to prevent spinal injuries.
