I'm current taking a summer physics class at UW with a couple of my friends. I'm a nonmatriculated student so my GPA in this place doesn't really matter, especially since i can't transfer this credit over to my university. So basically I'm in it for the knowledge that i need for the MCATs this august. My friends ARE matriculants at UW so their grades in this class matters. So when the midterm rolled around, my friends wanted me to just skip the test, dragging down the curve instead of risk me bumping it up. I thought about that for a while but in the end I still showed up just to see where I'm at and what i know and dont know.

what would you guys hvae done?

edit: oh yeah i got 97/100 and that was the highest score :laugh:

one person skipping the test wouldnt really bring the curve down all that much (i'm guessing since its a general physics class its a rather large class)
i say screw your friends and take the test so that you can find out how much you really know about physics, you shouldnt let your friends hold you back from being all that you can be!

I would have taken it as well...

I think your friends should study harder instead of getting you to skip out to get their average up.

Would the prof even count a "skipped" test as a 0 for the curve? I doubt it. The probably would have not counted that score in the curve.

Now posting 97/100, that fvcked the curve. ;)

Isn't taking the test part of the benefit you are looking for, in that it will help you be better prepared when it really counts.

I would have taken the test with the aim of outscoring them for fun.

summer physics course... meaning the class presumably consists of students who failed the class during regular semester.
quite an accomplishment there champ, beating the curve.

No most of the time its when people take the first quarter of physics either during spring or winter quarter. ATleast that was the case with my friends. Everyone i know that are taking summer classes is taking it for the first time, not as a repeat.
