What would you guess Saras Palins IQ?

I can usually tell when people are dumb. RR was not dumb despite lefts portrayal fearing his power and popularity they tried to use this low IQ canard but in Sara's case I think it's no joke. If you can believe it, or not, I don't care, I have something in the 160s and can always tell someone equal or better I simply dismiss them as smart but someone less it's easy...

I think she's pretty smart, almost certainly above average.

In my opinion when people refer to her as stupid they are reacting to her willful ignorance and poor grasp of issues. I don't think this is because she's incapable of understanding them from a brainpower standpoint, I think she is incapable of understanding them because she doesn't want to.

If you have an IQ in the 160s, why is it that you sit in the AT forums all day long? Did you take the short bus IQ test?

This.

In fact, I'd rate her as probably significantly more intelligent than the average person. After all, look how many people believe she actually stands for the little guy.

I would say that Palin falls into the category of above average, but not super smart. In terms of raw computing/reasoning power, she is certainly not unusual in any way, but in politics, I don't think that's the kind of "smart" that really counts.

Palin knows how to connect to and work certain people up in an emotional way. On the campaign trail and as a news pundit, that matters a lot more than being able to crunch numbers or write eloquently.

IQ is a pretty meaningless unit of measurement for most jobs and situations.

but I'd estimate average to slightly above-average.

lol, 160 is 4 standard deviations over average. Most people have difficulty relating to people with intelligence more than 2 standard deviations different from their own. In other words, you'd be bored discussing quantum theory with physicists from Princeton.

I don't doubt that you took some test, or for some reason believe your IQ is 160, but it's simply incompatible with someone that has thousands of posts on AT forums.

Having an IQ over 160 is probably like being 8 feet tall. Pretty cool in a way, but really something you suffer with.

Oh absolutely true. Edison said 1% inspiration 99% perspiration meaning it's work instead of intelligence. But she hasn't cracked a book either.

Most people here do.

BTW If you were born in Borneo what would you know about Quantum Mechanics? It's exposure and work ethic that makes the physicist, not IQ which is simply a measure of how fast you can pick things up and organize thoughts, spacial and concepts.

That's what scares me about someone like Sara - not only dumb but proud of it unable to change and a DANGEROUS ideologue because of it.

She has just enough I.Q. to troll...barely. Maybe 100, but I'm not seeing much improvement in her game. Even some degradation with a increasing stutter as her brain and mouth work rigidly together as Palins spews vile crap.

~100-110 I suppose.

IQ is somewhat meaningless, I think pragmatism and common sense are somewhat more important, but sadly she seems pretty far removed from those.

For someone with little or no grasp of national and international issues and no knowledge of political history (verified by McCain campaign chair), thinking they are qualifed to be Vice President can't be too bright. Either that or their level of narcissism is at a dangerous level.

I'll say 95-99

IQ is pretty meaningless as a measure of a persons capability in real life, but if you want my opinion, Palin's IQ is 2 points above a tree.

.

It's said that while knowledge is the information it takes intelligence to make use of your knowledge.

If that is true her IQ isn't more than your average penguins and that might be an insult to penguins.

"I know foreign affairs because i can see Russia from my house" - seriously?

And don't you just hate how they asked her really hard questions like "what newspapers do you read"?

You know, i can see the moon from my house, appoint me the head astronomer of Nasa because i'm obviously qualified.

Pfft. All she needs is the Bible, John. Total explanation of the universe and regulation of life is in there.

I would guess above average but not by all that much. 110 seems a solid estimate, maybe 115. Whatever a standard deviation is, I'd not give her more than one, though.

For Evangelicals in the US MAYBE she is above average, but that doesn't say much.

I don't think there is one of them that has a three digit IQ except MAAAYYYBE for Pat.

I would have to join the consensus as go with 100-110. She does many things that would seem questionable to people with slightly broader grasp of reality.
