If the store had a proper training program (and hired halfway bright employees) things like that wouldn't happen.. I'd keep it also.

I would have stopped him when it was obvious he was putting the wrong product in my bag.

I have very few firm moral reservations about stealing property, but knowing that this poor schmuck would take the heat and that I could have prevented it.... Well that's just mean.

One of the things you can always count on around here... if a store makes a mistake in their favor, people scream lawsuit. If the mistake is in the customer's favor, then tough luck for the store. And the stores should always pay more for better employees, except the customers only shop at the place with the lowest prices.

God forbid any of you people ever make a mistake at work.

Well assuming that i know he'd have to pay for it, something that would probably ruin his life at this point, i would possibly consider taking it back. But if it was a large store and the salesman would only be fired, i'd keep it.

Why just Best Buy?

If the receipt says just one stick I would take it back and get the rest for free actually

Definitely a Jackpot, but I wouldn't keep it. It was an honest mistake, and when they find out, the guy will probably be fired.

Sigh, tempting as it would be I couldn't keep something like that knowing that it would
get the salesman fired and cost him a ton of money to boot.

I used to go to a certian store where the cashier was always giving me too much change. I always corrected her. One day I thought about it and decided that if the company is not going to train her correctly, it is their own fault. I started to keep the extra change after that.

Yeah, it would be hard, but I would probably correct him right away. After all, he's a new guy.

When I bought my first computer at a local comp store, I ordered the "sound blaster live upgrade" with it for $70 (they were expensive back then). The computer had it in there, but it wasn't on my invoice. So, when it came time to pay, I said "The live card insn't on my invoice." So he totalled up the invoice again and said, "Yep, it's all there." I said again, "No, it totalled fine because you didn't add the live card first. " And he said, "Looks right to me." His manager was standing right next to him. Both of them were clueless. I said, "Ok, have a nice day." So, I got my first soundblaster live card for free!!!!

Train her correctly??? A company has to train someone to make proper change??? How sad is that statement?!?!? Like didn't we learn how to do that in about 3rd grade or so??? (maybe that's the problem...there was too much time in-between 3rd grade and getting a job as a cashier. ;) )

Unless I had a personal vendetta against the store I would return it. I once ordered a 25" TV from ValueAmerica and they sent me a 52" TV instead. Back it went.

I'd keep 4 sticks, and return the rest. I don't know where that would put me on the morality scale. If it was a big chain store I'd keep the entire box though.

I'm still waiting on a $300 bill for a scanner that I "bought" about 2.5 years ago!! They didn't want to ring me up, so they just "put it on my account." Okay...whatever......

I just know they will send the bill for it soon, though........
