Take an ad out in the paper.

That'll learn them.

Edit: Just read the long version. The Chef's actions only partly surprised me, they are usuallya bit crazy. The manager's actions astound me.

But, hey, what can you espect, you're in Chatahm. :)

Wow, you are perhaps the most patient person ever. Waiting an hour, and then getting the swear words in your face and yet you sound like you were still being reasonable! You did the right thing by not paying. This is probably the perfect example of when a consumer has the right to pull the "not pay" trump card. If your story is not exaggerated (sp) sounds like they are a terrible business...

wow, they were arses. I'd call the health dept, BBB, and even my police department if it wasn't too long ago

glad to hear you didn't pay, - if you're treated that poorly they don't deserve your money.

Thanks for the input everyone... I'm glad I'm not the only one that would get upset over this...

I feel bad mentioning the resturant, as they are going to go out of business on their own treating customers this way... and it's not a chain (obviously) it's just a one-store business owned by someone local...

But for the record, anyone visiting Chatham... Dont visit "Marco's Diner" on Keil Drive South... I hear the service there is horrid...

once i saw that they had no intentions of fixing the problem, i would some cash for the drinks and salads on the table and just walk out. i also agree that you should write a letter to the local newspaper / dining guide / food critic and tell your story.

Here's an alternative interpretation.

We enter and notice that there is only one man sitting in the corner. Wow, no one eats here, this place must be terrible.

Man you have some patience. If the chef said that to my girlfriend, I would have gotten in his face and thrown the plate across the restaurant and told him to fvck off. Just reading your story makes me mad. I also would have told the manager to fvck off as well. Haha, wait till all the customers leave before calling the cops? What a fvcking idiot.

If this is a chain place, definitely write their HQ. If it's a local shop, do some massive damage by writing to your local paper.

CDC - Center for Disease Control

At least is should be w/ some of the ratholes that pass as restaurants.

I have to commend you for your patience because I would not of tolerated poor service and a belligerent staff member. Someone would of gotten thrown through a plate glass window.

BBB?

Hell yeah. Report 'em to the BBB as well as send in a letter to the newspaper's resteraunt critic. And then spread how much they suck via word of mouth (which I'm sure you'd do anyway 'cause it's a good story to tell).

I woulda done exactly what you did, just leave.

BBB = Better Business Bureau. (I think he wanted the definition, not questioning whether or not they should be called)

Like others have said, call the health department. Health code is very strict for restaurants - too strict in most cases. Small restaurants usually have several violations.

If you're feeling less mean then call the BBB if they're a member.
