What would you do if you were drafted?

As in Selective Service? Go to Canada?

I would hope that they would let me take the opportunity to put my film skills to use, I would almost consider joining and going into documentary film with them anyhow... How much do they pay anyway?

BTW, I always thought housing and stuff was free, which was the good part about your pay, but my nephew in the marines says they take out money from his check and all to pay for that... WTF?!

Is he an officer? Officers pay for BOQ and food IIRC. Enlisted do not pay and in fact get money for housing and food if they live off base.

canda is no longer an option as usa and candaa signed agreement that canda will send anyone back that is draft dodgers so i can see only 4 option that i would have. 1)Go france or any other country. 2) Answer the draft call and go 3) Refuse to go and take chances on punishment that you will receive 4)declare that you are gay

To answer the OP's question. I'd laugh because I'm already in Afghanistan so that means that somebody screwed up.

And Bradruth, you'd be an idiot to request MP. Trust me, I am one! :) I love it, but its hard work.

:D Don't I wish!

If they were drafting people my age, I'd go.

I've already done my duty. 4 years in the Army Infantry as a TOW gunner.

Still, I cannot understand all this talk of a draft. It ain't gonna happen, folks. And the more you talk about it, the more you play along with the folks that want to spread fear by talking about it.

kinda surprised no one mentioned declaring conscientious objector.

IF a draft were in place (which it wont be), that wont get you out of serving.

Conscientious objectors become medics. You still get shot at, only this way you can't shoot back.

Speaking of the draft, did anyone notice when you register online there is an option for girls under sex? It's not available yet to actually click, but it seems like they're getting prepared for something.

We're in a war for no good reason. Yes I'd gladly go if it were a good cause and not just the Bush admins idea of a good time.

I did my 4 in the Navy and actually had a draft card and lottery number but there was 0 chance of me getting drafted since they had stopped drafting people in 1973 before my 18th birthday. I think the talk comes everytime some pol makes an offhanded comment or floats the draft as an idea. Unless we end up in a conflict similar in scale to WWII I don't see the draft ever returning.

yeah, you do civilian duty. but with the wide range of races and religion here, i was just kind of shocked it hadnt been brought up yet.
