What would you do if you saw a beautiful woman crying?

  • I'm a woman.

  • Guy - Ask what's wrong and try to help. BECAUSE she is beautiful/sexy.

  • Guy - Ask what's wrong and try to help. BECAUSE I'd do it for anyone.

  • Guy - Don't do anything it's none of my business. AND I don't want to come across as shallow minded.

  • Guy - Don't do anything it's none of my business, PERIOD.

i'd stop and ask what was wrong. i'd do it for anyone.

i was at the airport one time and this girl was sitting at a bench right after security check and she was crying. no one stopped to console her or anything, so i walked up and sat down next to her and asked if she was ok. she said "yeah" and i said "well, obviously not... you're crying. can you tell me what's wrong?" and she told me about how her flight got canceled to cleveland or something and she really needed to get on that flight to see her dying uncle. he was saying his goodbyes and she needed to be there. she had to wait a couple hours for the next flight out. i consoled her and told her that it'd be ok and hopefully her uncle had enough strength to hold on until she got there later that afternoon. after i said that, she got a phone call... her uncle had just passed away.

i asked her if she believed in God or heaven and she said yes, so i told her that if she does, she should know that her uncle is probably looking down on her right now and knows how sorry you are for not being able to make the flight to say goodbye in person. i also told her that it might be a good thing that her last memories of her uncle were of him looking healthy rather than in a hospital bed, emaciated and weak with cancer.

she ended up calming down after she realized i was right and thanked me. she said she'd been sitting in that bench for over and hour crying and no one cared enough to talk to her.
You should have chartered a plane for her.

Depends on the setting, like is she in a very public place and crying, or say on a bench in a park?

If it was a busy public area I'd probably not stop and ask, because some physco would think I was the reason (Maam is this man bothering you etc). But if it was less crowded I'd more then likely ask to see if she was OK.

Awkwardly pat her shoulder and say, "There, there."

If that doesn't work after about 3 seconds; walk away, because emotional situations aren't my thing.

It would depend on my gut instinct, in that moment, as to whether I felt my trying to intervene would be an unwelcome intrusion or a kind assistance.

If I approached her at all, it would be lightly, softly, and include keeping an appropriate physical distance, and my words to her would be near whispered so that she could ignore me if she wished, and they would simply be, "Is there anything at all I can do to help you?"

But, OP, WTF did you have to make this person "a beautiful woman?" Do you have some lame fantasy of overcoming your social ineptness by capitalizing on someone else's transient misery? That kind of reeks. 🙁

As for me, I'd offer the same low key, respectful assistance for anyone -- old, young, male, female, good looking or not. I've never been able to completely ignore any stranger in need or distress, even at my personal peril, ever. I'm just not built that way.

And, yeah, I'm probably taking this jejune fantasy question far too seriously.

i can testify to that.

Is it wrong or hilarious that I heard this in my head in the voice of Hugh Bliss from the Sam & Max episodes?

I heard it in a South Park episode. After seeing the new Rapunzel with my niece, I heard that voice in my head at the end of the movie. Hilarious.

Really depends on the type of crying. If she hurt herself, I would help. If she just broke with her BF or something...none of my business.

I would ask anyone who's crying if they were ok.

Unless they were really scary, or revolting.

I don't know if I would try to comfort a big, fat, sweaty, blubbering Hell's Angel.
