Well the moron hammer always falls on those who have the power of authoritay...usually the cage attendants or system admins...so you're actually a moron if you do not enforce the policies in an autonomous fashion.

We also tragically get blamed for everything including headphone cables that gets tangled into chair rollers, disfunctional automatic staplers, jammed oversized paper shredders, phone system glitches, insider, bad or delayed trades and even personal relationship issues oh my!

Life sucks when you're an infrastructure manager at a big fish with supposedly smart and hard working employees.

9/10 of people I talk to on the phone simply close the window they have opened, and that means restarting to them. I actually have to say each time "Go down to the start button, select Shut Down, then select "Restart." After that, they always say the same thing- "OHHHH....you mean restart the COMPUTER."

God I hate people.

Why would you hate the people that put bread in your mouth and a roof over your head?

You can hate retarded people no matter how much money they give you.

People who work in IT are possibly the most bitter people in the work force. News flash: Everyone hates people. People who you talk to at work who you hate don't like you either. Just because you know how to put in a gig of ram, manage databases, etc. does not make you better or smarter than the old guy who doesn't understand how a piece of hardware works. Do you hate your grandmother when she asks you to come over and program her TV because the channels no longer work? She is just as stupid as the guy who doesn't know why his monitor doesn't turn on when he moves his mouse.

P.S.
I know how to restart a computer. :p

Yeah, I used to get calls like that all the time. For me, though, it was usually them just turning the monitor off then back on. "Okay! I restarted it!"

I would ask you to wait 5-10 minutes, sooner or later that nice vista blue screen will come around again. Makes life easier doesn't it?

I actually do this before I call IT because I know that's the first thing they'll tell me to try.

They don't---I develop services and maintain services. Once in a while I fill in on tech support, and I have to hear these people. They cost the company money rather than make anything.
