When did Klondike bars become national? They have been available in Pittsburgh as long as I can remember (30+ years), but I didn't know they sold them everywhere.

In Pittsburgh you could only get them at a chain of dairy stores called Isaly's, and if your Klondike had a red center they would give you a free one. Of course, that was a great incentive to eat them at the store instead of taking them home.

That Red center is exactly where M4H has been hiding the body parts all these years.

And you wondered why AGN went down.

Klondikes are available everywhere that I know of?

I think it's been around 20 years since Isaly's sold out. Can't remember for sure, but it was some time in the early 80's. At least, that is when the stores all closed down.

30 years ago Klondikes were only sold in Pittsburgh (and vicinity). I'm just wondering when they became available everywhere.

Cerebus451, there's still one store in West View, I think!

Heh, I remember the Family Guy episode where they had a commercial for this on it...I don't remember exactly what they said, though...

Edit: I guess you guys'd nef for a Klondike bar...

Yeah, they still have a few stores around. They still have a line of ice cream products and their chipped ham/other deli products, but when they sold the license to the Klondike bar back in the early 80's they closed most of their stores and started selling their products to grocery stores and the like.
