So my employer has offered to let us borrow either of the following three as long as we work at the school. What would you choose?

I chose the iPad since I have a good laptop and no tablet, and want to learn more about the apple eco system.

I think I would go for the Acer because I'm curious about how windows 8 feels on a tablet with a real core i5 processor. I already have an ipad though.

Anything but Apple. I wouldn't give them a penny of my money, and seeing their logo every time I used the device would piss me off.

I wouldn't buy the ipad myself either (I'm definitely NOT and apple fan), but since so many of my pupils have one, I think I need one to give the best advice on how to use it for school work.

That's perpetuating servitude. There's no ethical gain by supporting unethical behavior. A computer's a computer. They're all easy to figure out, and the choice should be the one that gives the most freedom. Regardless of money, if my choice was Apple or nothing, I'd take nothing, and bring in my 5 year old Eee.

ASUS makes great hardware at good price, I would go with them. However you are comparing tablet, hybrid to full laptop.... so I guess the decision is between type of machine and not really the make.

Basically I don't need it, since I have my laptop, that does all I need for my work. But between getting nothing and getting a free iPad, I choose the free iPad ;)

If it's any reconciliation, I was the only one choosing an iPad, the rest of my colleagues chose the Asus. (I'm the teacher with responsibility for IT at our school)

you're sayin it right here, it will be more beneficial for your students if you learn to use the ipad and teach them to use the ipad. like it or not, the ipad is the current standard for tablets. Also, I dont own one but they are quite pleasant to use in my experience. So I'd vote for that.

Wrong, you pick the best tool for the job. In this case, I'd say it's an iPad, hands down.

An iPad isn't the best tool for any job. It does nothing well, and locks the user into Apple's corporate structure.

He's already said his pupils have iPads, so him having one would be a benefit. He's also said he already has a laptop. So for his needs (the job), I'd say an iPad would be a clear choice.

Go to hell. Refute my statement, or STFU. An iPad is purely a consumption device, that has no attribute other than portability. That sole attribute is exceeded by Android devices due to price, and greater freedom to use the system as you wish.

I see. English must not be your native language. I'll note that for future reference, and direct you to your local community college. All colleges will offer English courses, and many are setup specifically for non-native speakers. That should greatly help your future interactions.
