Currently I have an Inspiron 9300 which I use as a DTR. I am finding the HD too small, and its getting a bit too sluggish for me.

So I have been comparing these three. The A8Js and M1210 I would be able to get right away. The W3J I'd have to wait about a month to get my hands on one. The W3J is my favorite...but its also $300 more expensive than an A8Js and waiting a month sucks.

The notebook will be used as a DTR. I am leaning A8Js...but then the price is an influence too...

M1210: $1479
Intel® Core? 2 Duo Processor T5600 (1.86GHz/667MHz/2MB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
12 inch WXGA Wide Screen with TrueLife? and A/V Communications Pack (Intg. web cam, earbuds)
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce? Go 7400 TurboCache?
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

A8Js $1769

A8JS-4S013P: 14.1"W 1440x900 / T7200 / 1GB / 100GB / Super Multi DVDRW / NV7700 512MB / XP Pro);

What would YOU choose? I AM a gamer...

See...I love the W3J, but it was promised they'd be availible late September...

But now its mid October, and retailers are estimating middle of November. AND to boot there's only going to be FIFTY, 50, units availible for NA ALL OF Q4...so chances are incredibly slim I'll get one before January.

That and some genius at Asus decided to give the W3J the T5600 and the A8Js the T7200...icing on the cake. Retarded.

Still, I know that at least one company is taking Asian-market laptops (usually released first) and reselling them.

From my experience, I can say that Asus laptops rival only IBM and Apple for the "fit and finish" of their products. Very good stuff.
