What would this be called?

A guy I know needs to take his HD out of a dead laptop and back it up before sending it in for repairs. The laptop is about a year old. He said you can buy something to put the drive in and copy it. Is that called a hard drive enclosure? I need to know so I can buy it.

You can buy one most anywhere computer parts are sold. Online sources will yield the largest selection and the best prices.

They are called hard drive docks or docking stations.

There are many choices, but if you have SATA drives, 2.5 or 3.5, the Vantec is slick.
