I went back to Intel in 2003, and have been happy ever since. I am not a gamer - just graphics and work. The issue for me was stability. Since I have switched I have never had a lockup, BSOD, or any malfunction I did not cause from the keyboard. I was an AMD user for 7 years before that.

I agree--I went back to Intel during the height of the Northwood craze and have been very happy. I had previously been an AMD user for ~5 years.
Stabilty hasn't been an issue for anybody who knows how to run a computer since the K7 came in. What did you have and what was the problem ?

i'd go for AMD in a heartbeat . . . . but i keep getting cheap and powerful intel systems . . . time before that was a 1.2Ghz TUALATIN Celeron (a beast of a Celeron) to 1.5/1.6Ghz and before that was a Coppermine 600 at 800Mhz and a Celeron 300 . . . sigh.

"timing" . . . mine is "off" from the rest of the guys here

Hmm I thought I built my first mobile in FEB.... BTW $96@2700 and had the same benches as thugs when he was running 3.5...

We had same vid card too, 5950flashed.. and the marks were all virtually identical. You could too have built a "better bang for the buck.:)" just not with A64 at that time.

i remember you (or someone with your same suggestion) posted in my thread suggesting the XP . . . . i had already ruled that out as i was getting EITHER a P4 or a64 system. ;)

Seems like other companies were making CPU's that worked on Intel MB's a few years ago but don't remember hearing about things like that going on now. I bought a Cyrix CPU that worked in my first system, swapping out the 33 MHz chip for a 66 MHz chip for a cheap upgrade. Guess Cyrix is gone now, and all the AMD CPU's need AMD mainboards, right? Or are they making any CPU's that will work on Intel mainboards?
