What would happen if matter and anti-matter came in contact?

Results in an explosion very similar to a nuclear blast, including radiation release. The amount of energy released would be dependent on the mass of the matter/anti-matter combination using Einstein's formula - a tiny scrap could and would cause a very big bang.
