With the new Sandy Hook conspiracy and this and that going on, I wonder if I could make up my own conspiracy, post it on youtube or something. Then if it goes viral as so many do, post a video later saying that I was full of crap the entire time.

I figure it should be pretty easy if you stick to the formula.

Pick an event that had some kind of legislative consequences in the past 50 years.

  • Find inconsistencies in early reporting and witness testimonies.
  • Dupe the audience into thinking that the act was impossible to carryout alone.
  • Based on the last two items, allege that the perpetrator(s) were not alone and there was another shooter (grassy knoll).
  • Tie the perpetrator(s) history in with the government somehow, preferably the CIA.

I think the only real challenge would be to find an event that doesn't already have a conspiracy behind it somehow.

Either way, it would be a very interesting social experiment.

It only counts if you can make money on it. Maybe you can write a book that *exposes* the conspiracy to cash in later.

You also need the right people to see it and spread it. If its a slanted against democrats you nt to post it on freerepublic and the like. If against the GOP, head on over to democratic underground. You'll get far better traction appealing to the confirmation bias in zealots.

You should check out Derren Brown, he does some cool similar stuff.

Sometimes I've thought about starting a chain email just to see if I can get it up on snopes at some point. There are a few key parts to any good "my uncle sent me this" spam email.

Ok use this one

During the Iran Contra hearings when Olie North was testifying we had the USS Stark incident where an Iraqi (friendly at the time) jet fire and hit the USS Stark. Basicly it buried the Iran Contra hearings in the news for weeks….

What if everything we shun as a conspiracy is really the truth? Ever thought about that? Why is classified things still classified even ages after it happened. Why can't the general public see it? Why do governments never allow a independent committee to dig through any agencies doings? Every government has its guys to do its dirty laundry for them. After all playing fair and according to rules will never achieve you anything. After all the so called bad guys do not play fair or follow any rules.

What if conspiracy theories are really a conspiracy to keep conspiracy theorists busy so they don't find out the truth?

I laugh at people who even remotely think our government is even crafty/smart enough to pull off 1/10th of the shit you think they do.

REALLY?! Check your demographics. The far right extremists in the GOP are the ones screaming conspiracy in relation to Sandy Hook, AND Aurora. Nice try.

but they are crafty enough to get you to vote for them time after time. What is it to stir some shit up between people? If the US government is saying they staying out some serious issue in the world you might as well know they have some organization donating money to some blokes in that conflict. How many said to themselves WTF are we doing in Somalia when they saw the soldiers being carried around by 1000's of pissed of Somalians?

Some people have a lot of time on their hand when they smoking crack at times. Others will ask start theories when the government tells you 1+1=3

What you're proposing has been done. Some guy doctored a video of tower 7 to show flashes to perpetuate the implosion conpsiracy theory. Then after the video go a good amount of views he posted another video saying what he'd done.

However, w\ your overall attitude toward conspiracies, you do have some problems. Because you see, some of the stuff you mock and joke about is simply real.

JFK being the most notable of conspiracies for example.... The official story contains text about magic bullets. really?

Also, as bat shit crazy as Alex Jones is, he still talks about actual conspiratorial operations that are documented. One of the most notable of these said documents being Operation Northwoods which was a real plan in which we'd planned out to attack our own bases @ guantanemo bay and pretend cuba did it.

When you see stuff like that and you know that the gulf of tonkin was a farce... it's a slippery slope.

At that point you know the government is capable of things you'd otherwise be telling everybody on the board is just crazy talk.
