Do you think that their grammar skills would improve if they focused on school rather than having a job to pay for a car?

its possible, but if a kid can't handle working 20hrs a week and still getting decent grades they ain't going to make it in college anyway so whats the point.

that and I no care about grammer, this is a f*cking forum who gives a flying f*ck

Obligatory Honda/Toyota/Nissan/Subaru post.

Volvo would be cool too, but she may not like the looks.

A Volvo or BMW.

You want a safe car for her right?

The buy in and maintenance costs will be very high for these cars though.

Still have one year to go. What is an affordable yet safe car for a 16 year old? Drivers side airbags a must.

BTW- no pics you pervs.

A big van from the 70's. Complete with bed, music system and mini fridge. :p
That's evil.

It makes you look and sound incredibly ignorant, for one thing. Maybe you ought to quit that 20-hour-a-week job and concentrate on your English classes a little more.

As for the OP's question: we just went through this thread a week or so ago. Let me see if I can find a link. Found it

Maybe you should have spent that 20 hours a week learning grammar.. Working enough that it affects your grades is a waste of education. There's plenty of time to toil away for the man later.

The oldest, safe car you can get her. I'm thinking a late '90s Saturn, maybe. They had pictures in the Saturn dealer of the Saturn that a 16 year old girl flipped into a cornfield doing 80mph. The car was mangled, but she walked away with minor scratches.

16 year-old girls don't need cars. Car = graduation gift, if you absolutely must give her one

Nothing, and I mean it. Unless she absolutely needs it (can't get to school without it- bus), then don't give her one. She needs to earn it, otherwise she will have no respect for it.

yup

Yep. Saturn = safe and reliable. Plus they can be had cheap.

Or also look for a Chevy Prism.

the plan is to get a full size pickup, F150 or Chevy, whatever. something about 8-10 years old
we need a pickup for the house anyway, so she'll get to drive that to school

I think a lot of people here are jealous that he wants to help his daughter out.

He would be doing her a disservice.
Why? By making her beg rides from the horny 16 yr old boys she knows?

jealous? heck no. i have family friends that own dealerships. heck me and my father owned a few used car dealerships (until he retired). so i can get a good car very very cheap.

While i will help her find a good car for a good price i will not buy her one.

she needs to learn to save and the value of a doller. if she wants a car she needs to save some of her income from work for it until she can afford something.
