What would bite that would give such a rash?

The spider thread inspired me to ask about a bite I got. It was last Thursday that I noticed what seemed to be a a few bite marks behind my right knee. At the time I thought it was a spider bite and surprised that it would bite about 7 times. The next day it had developed into a rash and had spread to my other leg, around the knee (about the area that would be in contact with the right leg when I slept). There was also a bit of swelling behind the right knee. It then also spread to my arm and waist. It was most unusual.
A week before that, I had pulled weeds/vine from the yard and thought maybe that could be the cause but it seems unlikely for the rash to take a week to develop. Since it was spreading I also considered it to be fungal but the rashes don't look it. Another possibility is that I was allergic to whatever bit me.
Now it's subsiding but still itching. Planning on going to the doctors if it keeps spreading.

maybe poison ivy... if so go to the doc and get some pills. they work way better than the OTC creams. i get it almost every year. i can stand within 10 feet of poison ivy and get it. annoying.

Sounds like Poison Ivy to me. I had the same experience. Took several days for the first spots to develop and continued to spread over several more days. Get some anti-itch cream and keep it handy for the next few weeks.

hmm would the poison ivy/oak spread though or would it just be areas that came into contact that would develop the rash? I didn't realize it would take days for it to develop, figured the next day you would break out.

yeah, it spreads like cheap whore on Friday night. anywhere on your body you touch after itching, expect to get it there.

The oil is permanent once it 'sets' however since the break out is delayed, it is difficult for you to tell where the oil got to before setting. Also, if it enters the blood stream it can end up anywhere it pleases.

I believe in the absence of new killer diseases on the verge of spreading around the globe (Sars, etc.), the media has latched on to spreading fear of an invasion of bed bugs. Bed bugs are everywhere now, soon to come to a home near you. And, they BITE YOU!

So, it's probably that. Else, like everyone else said, poison ivy. If it's starting to go away now, save your money & don't bother with the doctor. Else, "It's a contact rash. Probably caused by poison ivy or something else. Put calamine lotion on it if the itch is bothering you. Looks like it's going away, so nothing else we should do. That'll be <$copay amount$>."

I literally bathe in tecnu after i've done work in the yard. And if I know that I was near poison ivy/oak/sumac, I was my clothes with it too.

The worst is that I scratch in my sleep and then it gets twice as worse and wakes me up. I went out and got a poison ivy lotion, hope this works.

Know it's not bed bugs since I'm the only one in the house with it and it's in isolated areas on the body.

Why would you go to the doctors for a little rash that is spreading up your leg? Don't be a baby. Unless your leg is falling off you should suck it up. Just put some butter on it and you will be fine.

(If it's poison ivy/oak/sumac) If it's actually spreading, then you still have the Urishiol Oil from the plant on your skin, or clothes or sheets, etc. The rash doesn't spread just because you scratch it, but it if the rash site still has some of the Oil on it, then it could be spread to other areas by touching/scratching it then touching somewhere else. I would definitely go get some Tecnu and wash your rashes with it, and I would probably use it to wash my clothes and sheets as well. You don't want it to continue to spread...especially to your more "sensitive" areas.
