What would be your minimum CPU recommendation for a Linux OS based browser build?

Pentium M 1.6GHz and 2GB RAM is a good minimum with Puppy Linux I think (you can get by with 1GB RAM but some sites will hit the swapfile hard if you have lots of tabs open, 800MHz will work but might be hard to bear some heavy sites after a while and you might want to throw your laptop out the window), or a Pentium 3. I wouldn't go Pentium 2 with modern browser unless you are really patient... though most things are compiled for i486-i686 so it would be possible too I guess.

Honestly anything but an Atom or atom based Celeron would fit the bill. I rescued an old system with 4GB DDR2 and an Athlon64 5600+ that browses and plays 720p yt.
