What would be your ideal job?

Everyone get in before this turns into something stupid 😉

It has to be a real job, one that you want to do just for the pleasure of doing it. I'd pick physics researcher. You know, someone who is running experiments, and is on the bleeding edge of the science. Developing new theories, trying to find the GUT. That would be a great job.

Second to that, I'd say a developer of new microchip technology. Developing new processes, trying to find the next big thing ala stretched silicon and SOI.

How about you?
 
along the same lines, but in computer science/engineering.

either in academia or working for a corporate lab... like those intel lablets or microsoft research.
 
Editing fiction manuscripts (but without the pressure of selection and marketing).

That or a communications researcher doing research on interpersonal communications over the internet. I just find that fascinating.
 
This is an incredibly hard one to answer.

Probably Archaeology or another historical research sort of job. It would give me an excuse to read all sorts of great old books.

Barring that, a mechanic. It would keep my hands busy and things would not always be the same.

And in third place is my actual career path, which is being a Suit in the corporate world, either in the Law department or in the Finance department. I've always loved Economics and Law, and to me Finance is practical Economics, while Corporate Law is a chance to play with logic. 🙂

Still on hard times, huh? Sorry man. I was out of work for only 4 months and I went crazy. I didn't have much saved, and what I did I had touse to pay my roomate's share of the bills.

Lots of cabbage and shaving by candlelight during those days.
