What would be your first guess on this computer problem?

3 pcs
One of them will power up but the monitor will stay black(the other is networked with this one). There was a huge storm before this started so maybe it has to do with that.

The other one will randomly lock up and have to be rebooted.

They all three run XP.

I know it's hard to tell but maybe send me in the right direction.

The first thing i would do, on the one thats not getting video, be 100% sure the monitor itself is good, hook it to a working pc and verify video, it probably is fine, but no need to assume anything. If/when you verify the monitor is good i would try reseating RAM/vid card etc see if makes a difference. If not, try good video/RAM/cpu/psu one at a time until you find the issue. Locking up one would be same deal, probably trying a RAM test or trying known good ram, or proc test/known good proc until you find issue. If you still fail to find the issue with those tests report back and well see what info you have based on what you did. Good luck.

I had a similar problem where the computer would boot but you wouldn't get a monitor signal. Try changing the PCI slot that your graphics card is in, that worked for me until that slot died too... had to RMA mobo and gpu...
