I personally do graphics, 3D work, and also play a variety of games. Im tryin to find out which vid card would be best within a reasonable pricerange of around 300$ +-50. I was looking at the X800 and 9800pro and 5900. I play games such as counter-strike, HL2, counter-strike: source, ffxi and use programs such as 3Dmax and photoshop etc etc. I want to get a high end card, but same time not spend a fortune :] i have a 9600 pro which im very happy with right now, but i still get a lot of FPS drop which i dont like too much.

value... and the fact you can unlock it to a GT makes it a super deal.

the X800 Pro VIVO is great, i dont know how much it sells for in US, but you can unlock all of them using This thread and it turns into basically the fastest single card out there :) i have one and get 80-200 FPS in CS : S at 1280x960, 16AA 6AF.

but, the non-vivo x800 pro is unmoddable, and as such, is not a very good deal - the 6800 is the better buy in that case

agree with Azzy64, the VIVO is the only way to go in the X800 Pro's case... unless you are going to an XT or something and skipping the pro all together.

well X800 Pro prices go from 380-500$ while the 6800 is 250$

what about the 6800 compared to 9800pro?

6800 beats the 9800 pro which is about 50 bucks cheaper. in your case go with the 6800OC from BFG.

6800 will smoke the 9800p... the 6600gt is close (but still faster)than the 9800 pro, and the 6800nu is a decent amount faster than the 6600GT.. :)

even if you unlock its gonna have 128 mb instead of 256 and DDR instead of GDDR III. close to a GT, but not quite

if you can find a X800 pro for $300, i would go for it

this is true, however in benchmarks it comes awfully close.. either way for $250 from outpost it's a freaking steal. I'd like to buy one myself but not another couple hundred right before christmas...heheh!!

well, If you mainly do 3d work,, wouldn't you like something else,, like Firegl or something like that, My friend flashed his 9800 pro to a firegl and it seem to work pretty well for him at Maya.
