what would be the best printer you would recommend?

i'm looking for a printer which doesn't cost too much in ink in the long run.

color preferable.

what do you guys have? are you happy with it? what don't you like about it?

I have the canon I850 for my color purposes and a Dell 1700 for black and white print outs. I love my canon printer, photos come out really awesome.

Canon i850. GOod luck finding one though. The i860 is the replacement and seems OK, but the i850 has fewer ink cartridges. I've never seen a printer with such good output quality yet is such an ink miser.

I have the Canon i950 (i think it's been replaced with the i960)... it rules. It has 6 color cartridges, so you only need to buy the ink that you use. HP and Lexmark (Dell uses Lexmark garbage) make crap printers... stay away from them.

I like HP...but from what i seen, Lexmark is gonna produce some dam nice printers in a 6 months to a year from now.

I've always used HP Deskjet printers and they are great. Wonderful colors and detail. Ink isn't too bad if you shop right. We get it at Sams.
