I mean summer 2009. 9, 9, 9, not 8, just to make sure it wasn't a typo.
The reason I'm asking now is because I don't want to be in the dark when/if I build my system next year. Knowing that a card available right now for $200 could run a lot of games at 1920 x 1200 gives me a good indication as to what I could expect to pay for such a card a year from now.
I'm just trying to get a general idea here.
I am sorry, but the oracular forum is located elsewhere. We can only give you advice about existing products.
a year from now, you should expect to drop your settings down from high to medium on new games... or buy a new video card.
Extreme games like crysis will still require you to play on lowered settings. (at 1680x1050 you can max crysis out with 2x GTX280 SLI... 1300$ for a pair of cards + 300$ PSU + cooling + etc isn't so bad, right?).
The 4850 is very powerful, among the most powerful cards out there right now, it is only slightly slower then the much more expensive cards above it. And it is currently the best buy, especially at 150$ (best buy deal).
but if you want a little more, consider the 4870... the 9800GTX and GTX+ are similar in performance to the 4850, and give you physX as well... both the 4850 in CF and the 9800GTX in SLI will beat any single card on the market.
