what would be my best option ?

I am having trouble with my MB as stated in a previous post, I currently have a athlon xp 2500,

I have a bidget of around 250-300 bucks for something else I was planning on just getting a new MB but it seems any decent one is still pricey for a athlon XP...

What would be my best option if I were to go A64?
socket 939? 754? things like that I am just over whelmed by the many options out there and want a subjective view on this...

remember I have limited funds here, and would like to have a decent mb and cpu.
I am just trying to hold off for about 6-8 months.

I'd go 939 with an ASUS A8V Deluxe - should last you a bit.
But you said you canhold off for 6-8 months... the AXP2500+ should be fine unless you have the NEED for speed and want to play highend games(but thenagain, you have a 6800GT).. maybe get a new mobo instead.

I looked at Newegg, and there are boards from Abit, DFI, Asus, and Gigabyte in the $50.00 - $80.00.

That is not much for a motherboard.

only my MB for the 2500 is failing and I play a couple of games like wwii online, which with my set up runs good, I would like to hold off on a new MB and cpu but was wondering if my 2500 is still worthy, its a barton if that helps any.
