What would be causing my DVD to crash?

Ok I'm really confused. I just got done installing win2k on my 10k scsi drive.

Everything seemed to be working fine, games, winamp, 3dmark, internet, etc. But after installing powerdvd, and trying to use it it gives me an error everytime, and crashes. I've got the latest drivers for everything in my comp, and don't know what could be wrong.

Also when I boot off of my IDE win2k install everything is fine including DVD play, so what could be messed up on the scsi install?? System specs:

Abit kt333 mobo
512 megs of DDR333
Athlon XP@ 2600
Radeon 9600XT
Creative 12x DVD

adaptec 19160 controller, 10k drive

I had a similar problem...I was using region free firmware on by DVD drive and Power DVD kept bombing sometimes taking my entire system down (rebooting the system)...
So i downloaded the latest firmware for my dvd drive, quick flash and now it works.

It removed the region free part of my drive but i dont really care since i only have region 1 discs anyways.

The only reason that doesn't make sense here is because this system with exact same config running the same version of win2k plays dvds fine when I'm running my IDE install.

I just don't know what could be different between the two installs to where the only thing messed up is my dvd playback??
