What would be better?

Would the XP2500 Barton be better than the XP2700 Tbred?

We won't know for sure until the reviews hit, but I am going to venture a guess that it's going to be real close.🙂

AMD's PR rating has been so far quite correct
so i think that the T-Bred 2700+ will be better
not sure about overclocking though😛😀

Basically yes, but what people have to remember is that AMD is already compensating for the extra core in their ratings. Barton may be rated 2500+ at a certain speed for example, but in pure ghz, it will be slower then the 2400+ Tbred. So I'd have to say the XP 2700+ Tbred would be faster

So the 512 cache won't make up for the lost gighz? I guess I'll get an XP2700 for $330.00. Why did they make the Bartons slower?

To meet market demand.

what about 32-bit clawhammer and sledgehammer?
are they bartons, or newer and faster ?

explain me, and forgive this dull.

first, clawhammer and sledgehammer can do 64-bit and 32-bit processing
they are a totally different architecture form the earlier Athlons and Athlon XPs(that includes Barton)

so basically they're newer and faster

🙂

Thanks for the information.
I heard that hammers will be released this year.
Mine XP2000+, and considering to upgrade. If bartons don't perform any better then T'bred, I will not switch to Barton and just wait for those hammers.
But, what mainboard spec it'll need?

I thought they were going to modify the ratings again, so that the XP2500 Barton will be a lower clock speed, but provide performance somewhere in between an 2400 and 2600. So the XP2700 T-Bred B should still perform better.
