What would be a good upgrade for my system?

Okay, so now I have:

Nforce 2 motherboard
2800+ Athlon XP
2GB DDR ram
9800Pro video card


I guess I need to upgrade the motherboard, cpu and video card... what would be a good bet for $1000 or less? What should I get so I definately notice the upgrade? (Is dual core X2 worth it?)

get the 3700 if u want single core, x2 3800 if u want dual

keep the ram

MSI/DFI if u want to overclock

7800gt or x800gto2 (i think u can flash the pios to x850)

Do you have a monitor with decent res on it that would take advantage of a faster videocard?

Yes, this will be for gaming

Would there be an advantage for dual core for gaming... what benefit does dual core really have? And no, I don't have a good PSU yet.

Any specific MSI or DFI motherboard? I don't usually overclock, so don't worry about that.

don't spend $200 extra for the cpu. spend it on the video card.
