Art History, so you'll double major in something almost worthless. Unless you KNOW you're going past undergrad (i.e. getting into med school or getting a masters, then phD in bio), your degree won't get you far, especially in terms of a biology-related field.

Statistics.

why exactly?

It seemed like it would be a useful extension of any scientific major, and a suitable compansion degree for any advanced degree or research.

I'm already aware of that.... definitely gonna try going to some type of a professional school.... or grad school if I have to.

IMO double majors are worthless, unless you can get one pretty easily, dont bother. if you really love school get a masters instead.

And relaying an advice from my uncle, who got pretty far in life with a very humble background and strong discipline, focus on your primary major, anything else is of lower priority. I wanted to minor in math while majoring in biomedical engineering...and all I had to do was take 3 additional math classes so I can boast I'm a math minor too. Made me realize that a major in college may not dictate what you will do later in life and that I'm losing focus in my academic goals.

They can help you get jobs. I knew an Electrical Engineering and Economics double-major and a CS/Econ/Humanities triple major. All sorts of econ-related job people were extremely interested in these people b/c of their choices of majors. They got a lot of interviews.

no one is gonna give a flyin fvck if you are a CS major with with another two majors in humanities and econ ifyou are applying for a development position the vice versa is also true. Ive interviewed plenty of these people and there lack of focus tells me they have no idea who they are or what they want to do. they are scatterbrained.

on the other hand if they got the double major in music or art history or whatever just cause they enjoyed the subject soo much thats something entirely different.

computer science or math (maybe just statistics)...... check out the bio-infomatics grad program at University of Buffalo. State of the art computers being used for biology... I believe their program is supposed to be close to the cutting edge of research, and a lot more research is being done these days using computer modeling.

If you want to take a major for the joy of learning and to become educated, take Philosophy.
If you simply want to help your chances of getting into professional school (especially medical school), take Philosophy.
Biology - Lots of memorization, little conceptual
Philosophy - Lots of conceptual, little memorization
So, adding Philosophy shows you can do both.

Well some people obviously give a flyin fvck :) I don't think they care about any other types of fvck though :(

They were also offered jobs in EE and CS related jobs. These people with multiple majors had tons and tons of interviews compared to people with single majors and were specifically told that having an EE and Econ or the triple-major was very impressive. It basically got them the job interview.

Look into getting a chemistry double major. You probably are not that many courses from getting one with a Bliology degree.

You're looking at this from strictly a CS/EE oriented view. Obtaining a double major can still be useful and beneficial. Getting a major in Econ (or whatever)/CS (or EE, CompE, etc) if you want to pursue a development type job would not be very beneficial. You can still acquire a double major easily and graduate within four years and pursue an MS at that time.

And, as said previously, you obviously could have used an English major. ;)

And both of you are only looking at the job angle of it.

Sure, you can take obtain a second major if you want to be better educated or for any other reason. I'm not saying that it's useless just because it may not be useful in one particular application.

A bs in biology is good for professional schools, graduate programs, and if you are lucky you can get a lab tech job in a research organization or a pharmaceutical company. Having a chemistry degree will broaden your job choices and opportunities.
