What works better for you guys when driving?

Most of the newer cars now have a digital speedometer that will show you in numbers on how much MPH you are going. The older cars unfortunately have those old speedometers that you have to manually check each mark to see a precise MPH>

My friend drives a Honda civic and it shows a Digital speedometer. You really don't have to worry about lightning since it lights up to give a clear display.
Which do you guys prefer?

I've never been in a car with a digital speedometer. It sounds pretty cool though.

Had a digital in the Aerostar. I hated it. I prefer to see the needles on the dash move.

Either or, they are both easy to read a quick glance and you know your speed.

My Parents old car had a Digi spedo as well as Analog, I did keep looking at the digi more often then the analog.

But I prefer seeing a needle a Analog gauge.

You also learn where the needle is supposed to be on each of the gauges.
No analysis of the information (numbers) - if it is not where expected - problem.

Eh. If you know your car well enough you know within 5MPH how fast you are going without even looking at a speedometer. That starts to fade once you are going above 75MPH or so though for me. But for anything 65MPH and under I pretty much know how fast I'm going without any need for a guage.

And I don't really have a need to deliniate between 62 and 65 MPH.

I prefer a regular one like in my accord bc it is very easy to read but I recently test drove a new mustand and it has a horrible speedo! It was so hard to tell how fast I was really going.

Wow. So you can feel the motion you are going with the car to check how fast it is going. Thats pretty darn awesome!?

With my car, I just listen to the engine and know what gear i'm in to determine speed.

Within a +/- 10 or maybe +/- 5 mph accuracy. Would I go blind and just assume I'm not speeding if I see a cop? I guarantee all of you will check your speedometers when you see that cop on the shoulder with his radar gun checking all motorists.

I usually hit the brakes because I know I'm speeding anyway. :awe:

I use my GPS as my digital speedometer. The way I have my steering wheel positioned mostly blocks all the analog gauges, so I have to duck down a little to read them which is a pain in the ass.

i can tell how fast im goign with out looking as well. i guess after you drive 400,000 miles you can tell? some cars its harder tho like lexus being so smooth

Had a HUD in my last car. It was nice. I prefer analog on the dash though.

My car has both analog in the dash and digital readout in the Heads Up Display on the windshield. 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. The HUD in my car only shows Speed, Turn Signals, High Beam, Radio Station. It might also show serious engine trouble (not sure) Also in use on Corvettes which have a more comprehensive HUD readout. Best thing they ever did.

It doesn't matter to me. We have both between our two cars. The only difference is I tend to set cruise right at the speed limit with the digitals, whereas I allow myself to be more flexible with the needles. A HUD would be cool though.

HUD is cool, but it's not something I'd see myself paying extra for.
