YOu can start with a 0

Yeah - mine and my wife's both start with 0...

yep same here

interesting side note...

did u know that part of the SSN tells where in the US you were born

actually its the first 3 digits

people with a 0 starting it were born in the NorthEast

test it!

i was born in the NE and mine starts with a 2...there goes that theory

oh and my whole family was born in different places in the NE and no one has a SSN that starts with a 0

notice i did not say...everyone from the NE has a 0...i said most people with a 0 starting are from the NE

NE should normally be low numbers starting it though

SSN Numbering scheme - direct from the horses mouth

Mine starts with a zero, and that site correctly says I was born in NY (Newburgh)

Like it said - after 1972 this scheme doesn't necessarily hold true - my children's SSN's start with numbers not 0 - they were all born in New York.

She's honest, not rude... Shame on you for not knowing the difference. :D

The only time she kicks people in the butt is when they fully deserve it, and that isn't being rude, that's justice!!! :)

"Since 1973, social security numbers have been issued by our central office. The first three (3) digits of a person's social security number are determined by the ZIP Code of the mailing address shown on the application for a social security number."

And "Thus, the Area Number does not necessarily represent the State of residence of the applicant, either prior to 1972 or since."

What's odd is mine matches me to Indiana, but we didn't move to Indiana until I was 6 (born in DC, moved to Belguim, moved to Indiana).

Government will stop any more births from happening.;)

But the illegal mexicans keep on coming up, they are unstoppable at breeding :p
They also can't legally get SSNs though!

If you are born in the US then you are legally a US citizen.

Scotty B's illegal mexican paranoia ends here.
