Flash forward one week from today. Election Day has come and gone, with all the votes counted and a winner declared and a weary populace rejoicing at the end of wall-to-wall political advertisements on TV. But wait, that simply begets the next phase, the post-mortem analysis of the election results and the inevitable spinning of why things went the way they did. Of course the strident partisans will offer their own excuses ("he wasn't liberal/conservative enough!" and the like), but what do you think the mainstream media Op-Ed pages will be saying come Wednesday morning that will eventually harden into the conventional wisdom for why the loser came up short?
