Keep in mind that it's so big that the LGA-2011 socket will have 2 lockdown arms. That alone should tell you it's going to be bigger than anything we've seen before.
Socket looks huge based on the motherboard pics I've seen.
Wouldn't worry too much if your heatsink can't cover the whole IHS, though. As long as it covers the area above the die and most of the IHS, it probably doesn't matter.
