What will happen when all jobs get outsourced to other countries?

According to Robert Reich, Clinton's (*gasp*) former Secretary of Labor from 1993-1997, "that's okay", if high-tech jobs are involved.
flipping burgers? maybe you have never seen McDonalds clamshell grills. They don't get flipped.
As a matter of fact the entire process will be robot automated before long. I have been involved in a construction project that robot automated into obsolecence several dozen fork lift drivers. Replaced with robotic forklifts. THis used to be the big fear and it is very real but it is not eating jobs quite so fast as the outsourcing is. Sorry but if this is the way our country is going to go then our government is going to have to take care of everyone. Welcome back welfare.
Moore's Law has more interesting implications, I think. What will happen when any job you can do can be done better by machine.

Since when are all jobs tech based?
There's always healthcare. You want to be ensured a job become a nurse, home healthcare aid, EMT, etc.
If all our jobs get outsource to other countries, the other countries will outsource to us for pennies since we'll be desperate for a job.
But..... since that scenerio is impossible in the first place, I think at some point, globalism will balance out the countries economically and while on paper, thats fine and dandy, you can bet that prices and taxes won't drop along with our standard of living.

Not all jobs are.. but many many of the highest paying jobs are.

Those are all engineering though, which not all of us will become or already are.
In all fairness though, if you were the CEO or a member of the board, which would make more sense; the 10-40k a year engineer in India or the 80k+ a year Engineer in the US? Usually, I'm not a fan of outsourcing, but for things that don't require speaking and has that kind of salary difference, it's hard to argue against it.

Too bad the stockholders don't revolt, export the executive jobs, too- I'll bet some up and coming Indian execs would run companies like HP for ten cents on the dollar, leave more for the stockholders...

IF all the jobs get outsourced, we'll be desperate for jobs, and prices will fall. We'll be known as developing then, and others will come to us for cheap labor since we'll be desparate. Don't worry, though, that'll never happen. We're not that desparate, and our economy is still much better than other countries. Sure, other countries are GROWING fast, but they are still decades behind ours.
but, on the other hand, we should expect more of us to have to travel as the world becomes globalized. Many of us may even have to work in foreign nations for months, or years. I say who cares, its fun, get to learn about other cultures, and come back home with a fresh perspective on the world. Keep in mind though, that at all times, we'll still be Americans, and we'll still be sending money back home, and paying taxes to OUR govt...
