Ok, so what happens to the children who are left without families due to the war? Will the Red cross take care of them? Will they be allowed to be adopted by people here? How are they to take care of themselves?

Depends on who wins, and wether or not people want to do the right thing, and help Iraq to help their own. The burden will once again be placed on our shoulders. Americans will come through, just like we've done before. Iraq is not a poor country, the people are poor only because they have been robbed by their rulers for centuries. If they are to have a Democratic society, we will need to help them rebuild, and educate them. Thomas Jefferson was adamant that Americans have a free educational system. He understood that monarchy's and dictatorship's ruled the ignorant through fear. Take away the ignorance, and the fear will be defeated, so will the totalitarian system. Who will take care of the orphans? All of us should, for they will be the rulers of a new Iraq.

No matter what they will have a greater hope of SOME future which they would NOT have had otherwise.

I don't know what the norm is for other countries but here is a little fact.

Before the war 50% of the population of iraq was less than 15 years old.

It seems a very high percent to me.

Is that necessarily a good thing, though?

But then it's not like they have much choice over whether they want to be orphans or not. I really hope that somebody does take care of them though.
